West Jordan City restricts firework use | Home & Garden

This is a news release from West Jordan City.

The West Jordan Fire Chief has restricted the use of fireworks in all areas west of U- 111 (Bacchus Highway) within the West Jordan City limits for the duration of the 2011 fireworks season.

Chief Marc McElreath cited the over-abundance of tall grasses and weeds from the wet spring as a main concern as well as continuing high temperatures and winds that will quickly dry out vegetation. He also noted that there is large fuel load of “duff” or undergrowth from previous years that would add to a fire.

The Fire Department will continue to monitor environmental conditions throughout the rest of the city for possible additional fireworks restrictions.
